(GMT) September 1st -- for a discussion of "The Jaunt" by Steven King. This story is typical Steven King, sort of SyFy and sort of Horror. The term Jaunt referring to an ability to teleport over long distances first appeared in the 1950s in The Stars My Destination, a science fiction novel by Alfred Bester. This story uses Bester's idea in a slightly different manner and develops ot into a rather horrifying image of a possible future. If you enjoy Steven King you will enjoy this story.
