Stormy Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 In a bid to stem taxpayer losses for bad loans guaranteed by federal housing agencies Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) proposed that borrowers be required to make a 5% down payment in order to qualify for a loan. His proposal was rejected 57-42 on a straight party-line vote because, as Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) explained, "Passage of such a requirement would restrict home ownership to only those who can afford it." I can't add anything to this - - - - I just can't
Administrators Nan Posted March 2, 2014 Administrators Report Posted March 2, 2014 If someone buying a house can't afford a deposit, how on earth are they going to be able to afford a house ?
Administrators Koach Posted March 2, 2014 Administrators Report Posted March 2, 2014 It may also be the kind of bill that will anger voters come election time.
Stormy Posted March 3, 2014 Author Report Posted March 3, 2014 Well, probably andthat's a huge problem in getting effective office holders now, there are more people voting for a living than there are who work for a living.
