Smiley Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 Please join us at 8:30 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time) on Saturday, February 15, 2014 for a discussion of the short story All Cats Are Gray by Andre Norton. Norton (Feb 17 1912--Mar 17, 2005) was one of the most respected and prolific authors of science fiction from the late 1940's through the beginning of the 21st century. She started writing juvenile (young adult) historical and adventure stories then moved into science fiction and fantasy. Many of her earlier works were published under the pen names of Andrew North and Allen Weston (during the 'golden age of science fiction' readers preferred male authors). She was the first woman inducted into the Science Fiction Writers Hall of Fame and is considered by many to be the Grand Dame of Science Fiction. This story was first published in the Aug--Sep 1953 edition of "Fantastic Universe Science Fiction" under the Andrew North pen name. It is a fine example of a well written, classic, sci-fi story.
