Today is Australia Day - it's a bit like Fourth of July and is the day Australia celebrates settlement and just generally being Australia.

So, happy Aussie Day (that's pronounced ozzy, not ossy) to all the Australians :)

LOL Casa, the normal fare for Australia Day is a bbq out the back followed by a game of cricket in the yard using mum's washing basket as stumps. Then the bbq is followed later in the day with damper and a cuppa. It's a pretty relaxed day for most, and if it's nice weather everyone heads to the beach.

What's damper, other than more damp?

I would think that most of the aussie blokes i know would prefer a brew to a cuppa.

Anyway, happy national holiday celebration.

Damper is a cross between bread and scone mix and it's made into a large round "loaf" and cooked in a ground oven if you're camping, or in the kitchen oven if you're at home. We have it with butter and strawberry jam and a cuppa.
