Administrators Nan Posted January 26, 2012 Administrators Report Posted January 26, 2012 Today is Australia Day - it's a bit like Fourth of July and is the day Australia celebrates settlement and just generally being Australia. So, happy Aussie Day (that's pronounced ozzy, not ossy) to all the Australians

Casa Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Happy Aussie Day Nan. Does this mean u gonna bake cookies and pie for us ? Grtz Casa
Administrators Nan Posted January 28, 2012 Author Administrators Report Posted January 28, 2012 LOL Casa, the normal fare for Australia Day is a bbq out the back followed by a game of cricket in the yard using mum's washing basket as stumps. Then the bbq is followed later in the day with damper and a cuppa. It's a pretty relaxed day for most, and if it's nice weather everyone heads to the beach.
Administrators Koach Posted February 2, 2012 Administrators Report Posted February 2, 2012 oops, I just saw this message Happy Australia Day!
Smiley Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 What's damper, other than more damp? I would think that most of the aussie blokes i know would prefer a brew to a cuppa. Anyway, happy national holiday celebration.
Administrators Nan Posted February 3, 2012 Author Administrators Report Posted February 3, 2012 Damper is a cross between bread and scone mix and it's made into a large round "loaf" and cooked in a ground oven if you're camping, or in the kitchen oven if you're at home. We have it with butter and strawberry jam and a cuppa.
